Tuttle Pocket Japanese Dictionary JapaneseEnglish EnglishJapanese Completely Revised and Updated Second Edition Samuel E Martin Sayaka Khan Fred Perry Books Reviews

  • I ordered this from Christmas money as I am teaching myself Japanese. I already have the phrase book from Tuttle and enjoyed how informative it was so I was fast to get the dictionary. The words are not hard to read if you have good eye sight (but if you require reading glasses they might be small though I don't have experience with glasses so I wouldn't be able to say). May I also add this is a true "pocket" dictionary, it's small enough to fit in your pocket! I was shocked at how small it was but my smallish backpack is always so full so it's nice for travel. I added a photo comparing it to the Tuttle Japanese phrase book and also a normal sized book. I recommend this dictionary to anyone interested in learning the language!
  • When they say "pocket size" it's for real pocket size. This dictionary is very compact but it has everything we need. Take your glasses out! If you can't read small type this is probrably not for you.
  • I referred to this book a few times on my trip to Japan; it was very easy to use and share with my Japanese friends. It's so compact! Great analog tool that's super small and easy to tote around in your bag. Strong cover so not too much damage after a month-long trip.
  • For me, too small to read the print. Get the regular sized edition, which still has fairly small type. This pocket size isn't that much smaller and harder to read.
  • Super easy to carry around because its so small but its very helpful.
  • I got this for my daughter to prepare her for trip to Japan. Small, very convenient, cute dictionary.
  • This book is printed in a font so minuscule that I can't use it without a magnifying glass -- who needs a "pocket" book that requires the reader to carry around a magnifier as well? The font is half the size of newsprint, and the words you're trying to look up are printed in light blue, which makes them even more illegible. A waste of paper and money.
